First Day back! 1st and 5th grade! Time is a thief! In one summer they both have grown so much! Seriously, we cleaned out closets right before school let out, and had to buy shirts for Lincoln and pants for Graecia from this summer growth spurt. While it was fun relaxing all summer for these two, it’s nice to be back to a routine and early bedtime!!

Praying for everyone getting back to the swing of things. It will be Christmas before you know it! @iscott15

It has been a joy to watch you grow into the sport you love ⚾️. It’s been a busy 2024, moving up into club baseball. Seeing you develop mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually has us filled with pride, excitement, and sometimes uneasiness. But you do what you set to do. You overcome your fears and push forward.

We are so proud of you. You succeed in the things you try. And that’s all we ask of you is to just try. We LOVE YOU!!

Happy Halloween! 🎃

Another Varela Halloween Party in the books! I am terrible at taking pictures. We have people coming in and out of our house getting food (nacho bar this year), cider, and hot chocolate.

Don’t ask me how we started throwing Halloween parties. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We both grew up not allowed to trick or treat. Once we moved to TX our neighbors and small community became family. And in our family everyone’s invited. Open door policy over here. And that I guess is how Halloween has become an opportunity to celebrate community.

I love watching the kids run from house to house. A great night - We had Miles Morales (Spider-Man), 2 hotdogs 🌭and a hamburger 🍔 oh and watch party for the World Series!

God's promises are true. Know you are in the fore

God's promises are true. Know you are in the fore thought of His mind and heart.

Something I have learned to understand, is that we are all called, we are all loved and we are all kept. God knows who we are the moment He first had thought of us. He called each of us to do great things, things that are just for ourselves. Don't focus on the people around you. You have a calling all your own, something that no one can take away.

You are loved! If you don't know this or beleive this you are loved! God loves you, and there are people in your life that love you too. Don't believe you are not. Don't give into the lie that no one cares. You are special and have a place in this world.

God has his protection over you. In all the things in life you have been through, you are not alone. God has a covering over you. There are people around you that have experienced similar circumstances. Every story is unique, but the paths we walk are similar.

When you feel empty or alone, please know God has his mercy and peace upon you. Remain steadfast. He is trustworthy in his word.

I hope you focus on these three words today or this week. Called. Loved. Kept.

Today we celebrate the one who brings life into our home. He achieves whatever he sets his mind to. He pushes forward. He enjoys the simple things. He loves unconditionally. He always pushes the limits. He puts a smile on our faces. He is a friend to everyone. He knows no stranger. He makes things interesting if you’re around him 😂😉

We love you Isaac! We are reaching new stages of life, our 40’s! But I know these years will be better than the rest. We are much more experienced, wiser, smarter, better, stronger for what God has brought us through individually and together.

I know today is filled with kid stuff. But I’m glad you end the day with something you love and are passionate about ♥️♥️

PHEW 😮‍💨 2023-2024 4th Grade &. Kindergarten

What a week it’s been!! Started out celebrating Lincoln with his pals for a wiffle ball and kick ball game. Ending the night with a trip to the ER. Graecia broke her arm. Spending the last few days of summer having fun and celebrating.

First Day of School on Lincoln’s 10th Birthday and he was all about it. This boy who made me a mama is something special. He has always been his own person. He has found a love for sports and continues to press into God. I pray 10 is even more than year 9. Continued growth, favor and blessings. Not letting anything get you down.

My poor Graecia girl. Starting kinder with a cast. She is tough, determined and independent. She doesn’t let anything hold her back. I’m sad to see her grow, but excited for all the new things, people and fun she will get to experience. She has been waiting for the day to go to Lincoln’s school.

We absolutely love you so much! You truly emanate who our Heavenly Father is here on earth. You bring the right balance of love, fun and happiness. You love hard and keep everyone in line when we need it.

You continue to lead spiritually as I watch Lincoln and Graecia want to be with you doing the things you love. You teach, by your actions. I have seen God use you in every season of life, whether it was difficult or fruitful. He has his favor over you. You are loved 🥰 beyond words. It can’t be measured. Take a nice nap and continue leading and fulfilling your purpose tomorrow. 😝

What a year for these two!! Full of growth spiritually, mentally, physically and more. Lincoln had his best year yet. His golden year truly was golden. Graecia navigated school and a consistent schedule, lol. So proud of these two and the people they are becoming.

Our minds have so much more power than we give it credit for.

Our human thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are rooted in the brain, where a complex network of cells receives information from the internal and external environment, transforming this information into our experience for ourselves, the world around us, and our relationships with it.

Any part of our experiences and environments affects how our minds received that information. This is our human response to our minds.

But God came into this world, to allow us to have a tool, to free us from the tricks our minds can play on us. If we allow the Holy Spirit to help in transforming our mind, we can live in freedom with peace.

Easier said than done I know! Been there and fought that battle many times, pretty much daily. By allowing the spirit to help control our minds, we need to be reading God's word, memorizing and meditating on His word. We need to spend time with him in worship, so that the Spirit can settle deep inside of us, allowing the darkness of our thoughts to be overtaken with the peace and life that this scripture speaks of.

It is a daily, constant strategy on our part. To stay consistent and do the work. Freedom feels much better than feeling trapped.

Some of our experiences are horrendous, I understand that. But one day at a time, one scripture at a time will get us closer. Live in peace, it does bring life.

Bible tabs. Who would have thought they would enhance your experience with your Bible. For me anyway. Easy purchase from Amazon.

We bought Lincoln a new Bible and added these so he could learn where the books of the Bible are. Cuz let’s be real, who really knows where Obadiah is in the Bible?! Not all of us are scholars. We’re just here making the effort to pick it up and read.

Maybe this will help you, maybe it won’t. The hope is that if you invest in your Bible, you will then use it to invest in yourself. But if there are stationary/school supplies involved I’m there for it!

We live in seasons. Some are made for us to give and sow into others. And then there are seasons where we get watered in order to grow ourselves.

It’s time to stop worrying about what we get from being Gods servant. Only God can do all the things we are just here to be obedient and his vessel.

God grows us, no one else. But someone plants the seed. Be the person who plants 🌱 . Who is a light, who shows others how to live in this world without being a part of this world.

We want roots grow down deep so we can withstand the tough seasons that may come. Because those storms will come. God never promised us a perfect life. But in those storms we learn new things, create a new intimacy with God, see some fruit flourish, and know we made it!

Be his servant, be like him. He is the only one who grows the seed. We are simply here to be present in the sowing or the harvest.

Every day is a day to love and celebrate the people you care about!

We’re not big on Valentines, but when we had kids we decided to spend it with them. Teaching them how they should be treated, and how they should treat the ones they care about. Expect respect, expect good manners, expect attentiveness, and know that we their parents love them. And they should not settle for less. That’s the hope anyway. But we all know love is a journey.

It’s been a great way to also have quality 1:1 time with them 💙💚🎀

Taking it back to the basics.

This scripture is what birthed in me Watered & Rooted. I wanted to create a space for women to know that life isn’t fair sometimes, but that you are not alone!

Our toughest storms always seem to be fought alone rather than with an army of other faith believing people. We need to stay connected, we need to remain planted, we need to be watered so that our roots are so deep we can withstand any storm.

Simple growth for plants only need, water, sun, and oxygen. This process can take awhile on our own. But if we allow others who we trust bring life to the soil we are planted in, thats when the flourishing happens. The fruit becomes active and alive.

So let this be a place to be encouraged, to not feel alone while you’re suffering inside. With proper care you will prosper in all things and through all things.

Happy February! We were welcomed with another ice

Happy February! We were welcomed with another ice storm here in Texas. It is an ice rink out there, for real. But in true Texas fashion we will be in the 60’s by next week.

This year I chose to forego the writing of goals and wanted to only be led by the Holy Spirit. So I took January off for a physical and spiritual reset. My intention was to focus on remembering God’s voice. Many days this past year, maybe more like 3 years I felt unheard and no reciprocation back from God. I have felt stagnant. No movement, just going through the motions of everyday life. I have been sitting still, waiting for something to shift. I’m not sure what that shift should be or what it looks like and I still don’t. I have been in this place of feeling blah. I can’t describe it.

During one of my days in God's word, I came upon this scripture - And I finally felt it, I heard it, God’s voice. Of course my human “Joy” nature is to second guess what I felt in that moment, but today I am standing in faith knowing that these words jumped out at me, particularly one word.

ABUNDANCE - “May there be abundance of grain in the land; on the tops of the mountains may it wave (flourish); may its fruit be like Lebanon (flourishing); and may people blossom in the cities like the grass of the field! Psalm 72:16

I felt God saying this is the year to see the abundance to see all that He has been doing in the background for the past 3 years. I am ready to receive it, claim it and wait upon the Lord to bring forth the grain. To see the fruit from the roots and the soil that is being prepped and cared for.

Today I pray ABUNDANCE over you, and all that you are anticipating, hoping, and standing in faith for. God does incredible things. Embrace the little miracles around you every day. Praise him and wait for the fruit to flourish. For the grain to be endless. And maybe soon I will start writing more on the blog 😊😝 @cj_varela

This is 50 years of marriage!!! This past weeken

This is 50 years of marriage!!!

This past weekend we all got together. From NY, NM to TX we celebrated my parents in this milestone that is not seen by many. 50 years of hard work, patience, dedication and most importantly God. I don’t know how they would have done it with out God at the center.

I am thankful to be apart of this legacy. Of two people who chose God and each other and showers us with prayers and love and how to live for God. I see their sacrifice, dedication and obedience now in my kids, their grandkids.

Let’s celebrate the rare achievement of marriage. Not only that, we celebrated their 70 years on this earth. Big milestones in 2023! They’re continuing their adventure together and even greater things to come.

I love you mom and dad and thank you for ALL you have done for us. I am blessed to haves watched them live out their personal relationship with God. Whether it’s them praying on their knees in the middle of the night, or reading their Bible early in the morning. Those are memories i have never forgotten and I hope to give to my children. It’s seeing you trust in God, and live out your faith.
